In 2005, Mosquito Squad was founded by Boyd Huneycutt and Scott Zide in Virginia. Originally working in the outdoor lighting business, Huneycutt and Zide noticed that their installers were constantly being bitten by mosquitoes. To help combat the problem and help protect their team against the pests and their associated diseases, Huneycutt and Zide developed the Protective Barrier Treatment. Little did they know that this inventive method would not only help keep mosquitoes, ticks, and other bugs out of yards for up to 21 days, but would ultimately revolutionize the industry.

Eventually, they began franchising upon realizing there was a greater need for quality mosquito control services throughout the country. Over the years, our locally owned and operated locations have been trusted millions of times in the United States and nearly two decades later, Mosquito Squad has continued to expand its national footprint. In late 2018, Mosquito Squad was acquired by Authority Brands who has continued our original vision of being the premier pest control company. With the powerful backing of Authority Brands, Mosquito Squad has continued to achieve incredible growth and continues welcoming new franchise locations across the nation.
